On the veranda door of a timber house in Västerbotten a pane had cracked. The door is coupled in the classic Swedish way: two sashes with single glazing are screwed together and act together like double glazing. To swap the damaged pane without putting the second one at risk, we took the door off its hinges and separated the sashes, then removed the old glass and the brittle putty, cut a new pane, fitted it and glazed it the classic way with glazing putty. The sashes were then coupled again and the door rehung. During the summer season we also take on smaller jobs on holiday homes in northern Sweden.
