Rust had eaten right through this coolant pipe in one spot, and the spare part is no longer available for this vehicle. So we repaired rather than replaced: cleaned the damaged area back to bright metal in our workshop, brazed it with silver solder and got it permanently tight again – silver solder copes easily with the temperature and pressure in the cooling circuit and outlasts any glue or soft-solder fix. The pipe was then primed and painted black so the rust doesn’t simply start all over again. In the last picture it’s back in the engine bay, unobtrusive and leak-free. We’re happy to take on metal repairs like this even when there’s no spare part left to buy. 🙂
